Introduction

Rhythm is one of the most important elements in music. It is often the source of the most intense and moving moments in a musical performance. It is perhaps the most direct and universal way to understand music as a listener. The variety of rhythms in a jazz performance can be traced back to the music’s multi-cultural heritage, which is constantly developing and influenced by other musical styles from around the world.

In this concert, you will hear a program featuring a diversity of rhythms and rhythmic concepts related to both traditional and modern jazz music. The program consists of music by influential jazz composers as well as original compositions by the band members.

音乐会介绍

节奏是音乐最重要的元素之一。在一场音乐会里，节奏往往是打动人心的源泉。也许，聆听节奏是大家理解音乐最直接和普遍的方式了。爵士乐多种多样的节奏来源于它多文化交织的音乐传承。爵士乐的传承仍在不断发展，并受到世界各地音乐风格的影响。

本场音乐会极具特色，您将听到涵盖了各种节奏及其概念的曲目，这些节奏和概念在传统和现代爵士乐中都有迹可循。本次曲目单里既有爵士乐名家的作品，也有乐队成员自己的创作。





音乐家介绍
Chenghuai Wang
王晨淮

王晨淮，爵士贝斯乐手。从14岁起接触音乐，并于17岁考入北京现代音乐学院，随后音乐生涯的发展转向爵士乐并开始学习低音提琴。2008年王晨淮被荷兰格罗宁根州的克劳斯王子音乐学院特招开始攻读爵士乐学士，2013年以全额奖学金毕业。2015年赴美国纽约皇后学院攻读演奏专业硕士于2017年毕业。曾师从Antonio Hart，Ralph Peterson，Michael Moore，David Berkman，Paul Benner，Joe Martin，Dennis Mackrel，Michael Mossman，Joris Teepe，Christophe Lier等教授，也曾与Erik Truffaz，Don Braden，Matthew Shipp，Ted Nash，Chris Washburne，Theo Croker等众多音乐家合作演出。

Chenhuai Wang began studying music at the age of 14, initially as a guitarist in my hometown of Tianjin, China. After high school Chenhuai attended the Contemporary Music Academy in Beijing where my focus turned to jazz and He began to study the double bass. Chenhuai influenced by the music of great musicians such as Charlie Parker, Charlie Haden, John Zorn and Steve Coleman who became huge impact on his musical content. In 2008 I started undergraduate studies in jazz at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, Netherlands, graduated with full scholarship in 2013. Upon graduation in 2014 He returned to Beijing to focus on performing. In 2015 Chenhuai began graduate studies in Jazz Performance at Queens College. he had the opportunity to study with Antonio Hart，Ralph Peterson，Michael Moore，David Berkman，Paul Benner，Joe Martin，Dennis Mackrel，Michael Mossman，Joris Teepe，Christophe Lier , Etc.
And Chenhuai have been to play with Erik Truffaz, Don Braden, Matthew Shipp, Ted Nash, Chris Washburne, Theo Croker, etc, in the past few years.

Sejin Bae
裴世珍

Sejin Bae is a Korean based jazz pianist, composer and arranger who received her bachelor’s degree in jazz performance at one of the most famous and competitive colleges in Seoul, The Dongduk Women’s University; there she was awarded many scholarships to attend and graduated with honors. Wanting to further pursue her music education, she moved to New York City in 2010 to attend graduate school at Queens College. At Queens College she had the privilege to study with David Berkman, Jeb Patton, Michael Mossman, Antonio Hart and Johannes Weidenmuller. During her time in New York City, she participated in many gigs, concerts and master classes.
After completing her Master’s degree at Queens College, she returned to Korea and began teaching music at several colleges in Seoul and Daegu, as well as frequently performing at some of the most well-known venues in Korea; participating in broadcasts, festivals and recording sessions. In addition to jazz, she is also a member of the famous Korean latin band “Pinar Del Rio” and has worked with several famous Korean jazz vocalists. In 2016, Sejin participated on the soundtrack to the Hong Kong film, “Our Time will Come”.  To date, Sejin Bae has performed all of the world including the United States, Korea, Japan and China.
Sejin is currently living in Beijing performing with some of the finest musicians and many others at venues like the Blue Note, East Shore, DDC, Bricks, Jianghu, etc.  and currently holds a teaching position at the Contemporary Music Academy. In addition, She had recently performed with Mark Turner and Michael Mossman with Blue Note Beijing Jazz Orchestra, Jz Festival, and Changchun Jazz Festival etc.

裴世珍是位钢琴家，作曲家以及编曲家并在韩国很著名的同德女子大学获得爵士表演学士学位。2010年，她搬到纽约市并在皇后大学上研究生。在皇后大学她师从David Berkman ，Jeb Patton,  Michael Mossman ，Antonio Hart以及Johannes Weidenmuller。在纽约的时候，她经常参加各种演出，音乐会以及大师班。
获得了爵士表演的硕士学位，裴世珍搬回韩国并在首尔和大邱里的几所大学开始授课。与此同时，她经常在韩国各地最著名的音乐俱乐部和音乐厅演出，另外还参加广播电台、音乐节以及参与很多录音棚的录音工作。除了爵士乐之外，她还参与很多别的音乐风格。她是韩国很有名的拉丁乐队“Pinar Del Rio”的成员，她也曾经也跟许多韩国爵士-流行明星有过合作。2016年，她为著名香港影片“明月几时有”而参加配乐。裴世珍已经在世界各地演出过，包括美国，韩国，中国和日本等。
裴世珍目前住中国北京并跟当地一些最优秀的音乐家一起合作譬如该场地包括Blue Note，东岸，DDC，Bricks，江湖等并在现代音乐学院任教爵士钢琴。她近期跟Blue Note爵士大乐团和Mark Turner与Michael Mossman同台以及在Jz爵士音乐节于长春音乐节演出。


高太行
Nathaniel Gao

Nathaniel Gao is a saxophonist and composer who has been based in Beijing since 2006.  He has been a key contributor to the local jazz scene as both a co-leader of the quintet Red Hand as well as a leader of his own quartet and trio.  Additionally, Gao has been active in an eclectic range of other musical projects including Three Sergeants Syndrome, The Beijing City Big Band, Afrokoko Roots and Bu Yiding.  He has performed at the Ninegates Jazz Festival, the MIDI Jazz Festival, the Chongqing Jazz Festival, and the Ditan Park Music Festival, Jarasum International Jazz Festival and at major venues in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing and Guangzhou.  Gao graduated from UNI in 2006 with BA in music performance and in 2011 completed an MA in jazz performance at the City College of New York.

2006年以来活跃在北京爵士音乐界的的萨克斯演奏家和作曲家。作为“红⼿”五重奏乐队的成员之⼀和他自己的四重奏和三重奏乐队的主导者，他为北京爵士音乐做出了重要贡献。他参与的 乐队还包括“夏佳四重奏”，“Bad Monk”, “大卫”，“北京Blue Note大乐队”，“Three Sergeants Syndrome”，“北京城市大乐队”，“Afrokoko Roots”和“不一定”。他参与了“九门爵士音乐节”，“海龟岛爵音乐节”，“新泻爵⼠音乐节”，“广州爵士音乐节”，“迷笛爵士节”和“地坛音乐节”。高太行毕业于2006年获得美国北艾奥瓦大学音乐表演学士学位，于2011年获得纽约城市学院爵士演奏硕士学位。


Simone Schirru

Simone Schirru is an Italian guitar player recently moved in Beijing, He started is professional career in 2006 in Italy. He was the winner in 2005 and 2008 of the International Festival Ai Confini tra Sardegna e Jazz as best guitar-player and best Band.
Since then He played with Guitto Gargle, Cuenta Contemporanea, the solo project Improsa Tongue, Ajo-jo mandi & the Youngers, Progetto Nudo, Pixeldrama, in many festivals and prestigious places around the world crossing Italy, Belgium, United States and India.
In Belgium was a part of the well-know soul band Man on Fire and the Soul Soldiers. He also graduated in Master Jazz Guitar at Lemmens Institute in Belgium studying with some of the best Belgium musicians in the country as Peter Hertmans, Frank Vaganée, Ron Van Rossum and Bo Van Der Werf.
At the beginning of 2016 as part of the Brussels Quintet He is being playing for three months at JZ Hangzhou. Since then He already traveled around China playing also in Shanghai, Suzhou, Changzhou, Xiamen, Hefei, Baoding, Harbin, DaTong, Beijing and Taiwan.
Nowadays He is teacher at the Contemporary Music Academy of Beijing while performing around Beijing leading different bands under his name such as RoOom, a trio that performs his original compositions, and Invisible a tribute of Ornette Coleman's music. He is co-leading the trio Bad Monk and he is sideman in several other bands : Leela, Tongues of Fire, Core and many more.
From end of 2016 is a part of the BlueNote Beijing Jazz Orchestra, with the BNBJO He performed regularly at Blue Note Beijing, the BNBJO occasionally hosted special guest as Micheal Mossman, Jaleel Shaw, Conrad Herwig and Mark Turner.
In February 2017 he founded 3C (Creative Composers Collective) a collective of composers base in Beijing with the idea to promote and help creative jazz music in China. He is working as artistic director for the event Beijing 3C Jazz Series, hosting concert of the 3C project in the local venue DDC.
During is career He’s performed with several musicians as Sabir Mateen, David Cossin, Enzo Favata, U.T. Gandhi, Silvia Bolognesi, Piero Bittolo Bon, Francesca Cassio, Mohan Shyam Sharma, Bo Van Der Werf, Lynn Cassiers, Nicola Lancerotti, Gao TaiHang, J Kyle Gregory, Danny Zanker, Li XiaoChuan, Zhang XiongGuan, Gast Waltzing, Ernest Dawkins, Riccardo Pittau, Roberto Pellegrini, Massimo Tore, Sandro Fontoni, Antonio Fusco and Kenyatte Abdur Rahman among others.

Simone Schirru是一位近期移居北京的意大利籍吉他手，他于2006年在意大利开始了自己的职业音乐家生涯。在2005年及2008年的国际爵士音乐节Ai Confini tra Sardegna e Jazz，Simone荣获最佳吉他手及最佳乐队称号。自此之后，他与众多乐队都有过密切的合作，如Guitto Gargle, Cuenta Contemporanea, Ajo-jo mandi & the Youngers, Progetto Nudo及Pixeldrama, 不仅如此，Simone同时经营着自己的独奏表演 Improsa Tongue。他们的足迹遍布世界各地许多音乐节和颇具声望的地方，如意大利，比利时，美国和印度。

自2016年底，他正式成为了BlueNote Beijing大乐队——BNBJO的其中一员，开始了在BlueNote Beijing长期的演出合作。此外，BNBJO也会时常邀请特别嘉宾同台演出，如Micheal Mossman, Jaleel Shaw, Conrad Herwig 和Mark Turner。
2017年2月份，他组建了3C团队，集结了在北京的一批有志于改善中国创意爵士乐环境的作曲家。他作为北京3C爵士乐系列的艺术指导，一直在北京的DDC主持3C的演出。
